Sporting fraternity hails PV Sindhu’s historic World C’ships Gold

India’s daughter PV Sindhu creates history, wins gold medal in BWF World Championships 2019

Indian sporting fraternity, led by eminent cricket personality Sachin Tendulkar, on August 25, hailed P V Sindhu’s (Pusarla Venkata Sindhu) historic triumph at the Badminton World Championships, saying her feat has made India proud.

The PM twitted that, “The stupendously talented @Pvsindhu1 makes India proud again! Congratulations to her for winning the Gold at the BWF World Championships. The passion and dedication with which she’s pursued badminton is inspiring.  PV Sindhu’s success will inspire generations of players”. PM Narendra Modi in a tweet asserted.

Significantly, Olympic silver medallist P V Sindhu beat Japan’s Nozomi Okuhara 21-7 21-7 in a one-sided summit clash in Basel, Switzerland, to clinch her and India’s maiden gold in the World Championships.

Meanwhile, “Amazing performance! Congratulations on becoming the 1st ever to win the BWF World Championships! You have made India proud, yet again,” Sachin Tendulkar tweeted.

Gautam Gambhir, Former Cricketer and Member of Honourable Parliament twitted: “Congratulations to the newly crowned World Champion PV Sindhu for winning the at BWF World Championships 2019. Time and again, you’ve made us Indians proud”!

Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju stated that the country was proud of Sindhu for her unprecedented achievement.

“She creates history by becoming the first-ever Indian to claim gold in BWF World Badminton Championships! India is proud of @Pvsindhu1. My hearty congratulations! Govt will continue to provide best support & facilities to produce champions,” Sports Minister tweeted.

Sindhu’s fellow competitor and Olympic medallist Saina Nehwal also tweeted that, “Congratulations to @Pvsindhu1 for the first ever world championships gold medal from India.” Other cricketing greats also congratulated Sindhu.

“Congrats@Pvsindhu1 on winning Gold medal at #BWFWorldChampionships2019 Great exhibition of skill, fitness and mental strength to defeat Japan”s Okuhara in such an emphatic fashion. Proud of you,” remarked former India batsman and fellow Hyderabadi VVS Laxman.

Prakash Javadekar, Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and Minister of Information and Broadcasting twitted, “Heartiest Congratulations to @PVSindhu1 on creating history by winning Gold in BWF World Championships women’s singles. Her determination, grit & commitment reflects women power of India. Proud moment for #Indiansports #IndianBadminton #PVSindhu #BWFWorldChampionships2019″.

Another Hyderbadi and tennis great Sania Mirza too lauded Sindhu”s achievement. “What a champion you are girl @Pvsindhu1 congratulations.. enjoy the moment,” Sania stated.

Badminton Association of India president Hemanta Biswa Sarma added: “Congratulations @Pvsindhu1 on winning the #BadmintonWorldChampionships by beating Nazomi Okuhara of Japan in a stunning game.

“This is a historic moment for all of us. I am thrilled with joy. India is proud,” said Sarma. Former India spinner Harbhajan Singh wrote: “Congratulations PV Sindhu 1st indian to win Gold @Pvsindhu1 keep inspiring.”

Despite all of this, She won silver in Women’s singles at Commonwealth Games 2018. She was also a silver medalist at the 2017 BWF World Championships and 2018 BWF World Championships consecutively. She was also a silver medalist, in Asian Games 2018, which were held in Indonesia.

In 2018, she became the first Indian to have clinched the World Tour title defeating Japan’s Nozomi Okuhara in the 2018 World Tour final.. In 2019, On August 25 2019, “Her win was the first gold medal for country at world championships across all disciplines”.. Although, She came to international attention when she broke into the top 20 of the BWF World Ranking in September 2012 at the age of 17.
