There was much focus on history related questions in the first paper which was quite unusual. So you can say that, there was a change in the pattern too. The questions were standard but asked in a roundabout manner particularly in the section related to environmental science in the first paper. While the Major emphasis, paper was highly conceptual with regard to Environment, Technology, Polity, Government schemes and policies, Deep History etc.
In short, There were also a lot of questions on the environment, Technology and Current Events. CSE Prelims 2018 Paper I (Many of the questions in the History are factual, Polity questions are much standard, Environment are much tough, Current Affairs are relatively easy, in IR standard Issued are asked)..
