TRILOK SINGH AT DRDO. NEW DELHI, INDIA.

Today, extraordinary achievement done by our DRDO scientist team which really strengthen the our defense mechanism and also helps to counter the security threats at Air to Air level. Yes, this is a valentine gift by the DRDO to our defence. The interceptor was launched from Abdul Kalam Island or Wheeler Island of ITR at about 7.45am, said a top DRDO officials to IASmind.com.

Moreover, The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) on february 11, 2017, successfully tested an exo-atmospheric missile interception as part of the ballistic missile defence programme. The interceptor is based on the nuclear-capable Prithvi missile.

Indian ballastic missile defence programme is a double-tiered system consisting of two interceptor missiles, namely the Prithvi Air Defence (PAD) missile for high altitude interception, and the Advanced Air Defence (AAD) Missile for lower altitude interception.

Talking about credibility, this defence system has a hit probability of 98.5 %. Tested successfully against ballastic missile during PADE (exercise conducted to test this system). And have been successfully intercepted all missile launched from surface and ship. It was being tested against Prithvi 2, which have feature measures to decieve ( to avoid or counter measure ) anti ballastic missile.

With the help of Inertial Guidance and IR Seeker the missile moved for the interception. All events were monitored in real-time by the Telemetry/Range Stations, at various other locations.
